DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ISO 14000 SYSTEM

          Striving to stable development, Europe and the world make all environmental standards and directives stronger and tougher. The relevant incentive measures are getting more active, more attractive and beneficial.

          The ISO 14000 standards, first published in 1996, provide guidelines and specifications for “an effective environmental management system (EMS)”, by which a company can guarantee to its partners, community and society that:

  • it monitors the impact of the production processes on the environment and mostly of the processes that include natural resources utilization and soil, water or air pollution;
  • it controls its products impact on the environment – they should be appropriately designed to be liable to recycling, safe destruction or dismantling after usage or application;
  • it applies proper technical, technologic, organisational or other measures to minimize pollution risks and hazards at least to the admissible levels set by international or local legislative bodies.

 ISO 14000 certified company attains some economic benefits – investing in environmental protection saves fines and financial losses. Such a company is not a subject to state controls and assessments of its environmental practice, because it has proved the efficiency of its self-control. So it is not necessary to pay extra charges for  inspections. ISO 14000 certified company promotes a high social image because of its concern about environment and consequently about society.

         Besides all, the big international corporations, certified on ISO 14001, demand persistantly a prompt ISO 14001 certification from their suppliers.

          And finally – a company, currently working on ISO 14001 implementation, increases its chances to receive financial funding for investment in environmental protection measures.
