DIAGNOSTICS OF THE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Decision making and control methods and their relevant tools and structures lay at the basis of modern management practice.
Management system diagnostics give answers to two practical questions:
- The first one – what is the level of the current management system of a company compared to the best Bulgarian and world management practices.
- The second one – if we know the gaps between the “real” and the “ideal” practice (each difference is a problem to be solved), what is the order of the work to be planned, organised and co-ordinated, so that stable and effective results to be achieved aimed at better management.
The diagnostics require an application of three basic methods:
- organisational analysis of management approaches, techniques, structures
- strategic analysis of company’s potentials and its product/market profile
- an audit of the organisational standards and the decision-taking methods
The diagnostic work leads to the composition of three main documents:
- findings and conclusions on the state of management, referred to the best-known and applied practices
- SWOT-analysis of the company functions/units
- recommendations – advice on the necessary activities and measures.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS
The narrow aspect of this diagnostic work is to find and indicate the gaps between company’s quality system and the requirements of ISO 9001 standard.
Its broad aspect is to demonstrate the main faults of the applied management system referred to the principles of TQM.
Diagnostics output includes documents that help company plan, design and implement improvement measures in all its management functions and sectors. That is why the final presentation papers contain materials targeted not only on QMS, but also on marketing, R&D, financial management and human resources
